Kozhikode is steeped in tradition,
culture, and communal harmony. This is the area described by Marco Polo in
the year 1320 AD as the Great Province of Malabar. As early as the year 1498,
Vascoda Gama landed in Kozhikode. This event marked the
beginning of a new era in the history of Kerala
which ultimately led to intervention of foreigners in Malabar trade. Kozhikode is especially famous for the Ayurvedic system of medicine.

Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, stands on seven hills sloping towards the Arabian Sea. This city is believed to
have been raised from the sea and bestowed to the Brahmins by Lord Parasurama. It is the most beautiful part of tropical India with evergreen forests. Kerala has witnessed European and Arab merchants lured
by timber, ivory, pepper, ginger, cinnamon and other spices. It is the land
where six religions - Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism, Jainism, Judaism
and Islam . have peacefully coexisted through the centuries; the land where
the Chinese and the Arabs, the Portuguese and the Dutch, the French and the
English left their mark.
