West Africa is a cluster of countries along the coast of the South Atlantic Ocean. West Africa stretches from Senegal to Nigeria, and all but one country - Burkina Faso - touches on the Atlantic Ocean.
The land is low and flat. Some of it is covered with forest, while other
parts are made of grassy plains (savannas).

The climate is nearly constant across all of West Africa. There is a region on the coast
of Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone that is hot, humid and rainy
all year long. The rest of West Africa is also warm throughout the year but has both a
wet and dry season.
